Team:

Our community experienced a heartbreaking tragedy yesterday. The shooting at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School claimed the lives of two innocent victims, and we join the St. Louis region in grieving for the students, faculty and families impacted by this senseless violence.

This particular incident has hit home for many of us here at BSD and Metro Transit. Central Visual and Performing Arts High School is located next to one of our more popular MetroBus routes, and throughout the years, our Operators have come to know many of the students and teachers they take to or from the school every day. Many of you also have family or friends that attend or work at the high school.

Unfortunately, no one in our community is immune from the sadness and horror of a school shooting. And for all of us, it is okay to not be okay. It is okay to get help. You do not have to deal with this trauma alone.

Our Wellness team has arranged free mental health resources for any team member and dependents who needs assistance or even just someone to talk to. We will have a therapist on-site at:

  • Brentwood MetroBus Facility | Wednesday, October 26 | 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • DeBaliviere MetroBus Facility | Thursday, October 27 | 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In addition, our Employee Assistance Program is available to help you with any issues you may be dealing with, and can connect you with additional mental health resources. They are open 24/7 at 1.877.622.4327. If you have any questions, please contact Lindsay Loftus, Manager of Wellness, at email hidden; JavaScript is required or 314.681.4122.

Please continue to keep the victims of this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers as we all come together as a community to heal and support one another in the days ahead.

Thank you,

Charles Stewart
