Team Member Spotlight: Katie Turnure

Katie TurnureKatie is the Office Manager for the Gateway Arch and is responsible for the administrative functions of the office, including managing the billing process, purchasing supplies and overseeing the parking program for the Headquarters Facility.

Katie has been with the Gateway Arch for 12 years. She has served in multiple roles since beginning her tourism career at the Gateway Arch; including serving as a Tour Guide, Ticket Sales Agent, Seasonal Supervisor and now Office Manager. Katie says, “I love working with everyone in my department and we really work well together as team.”

Katie has been involved in the employee association at Gateway Arch National Park for over five years and was recently elected as President of the association. She has been serving in this capacity for nearly two years and enjoys working with park partner colleagues.

Prior to coming to the Gateway Arch, Katie was a History Teacher at Incarnate Word Academy. She decided on a career change, and when she came to the Gateway Arch, she really loved the work — and the rest was history. Katie says, “Being at the Arch has been a perfect match. I like being a part of the guest experience while they visit and learn about the Arch and its history.”

When Katie is not working, she is busy reading and making crocheted items such as hats, scarves and baby blankets — like the one she just crocheted for her 2½ month-old nephew. She also likes to go hiking. Katie said she can’t wait until the pandemic subsides so she can travel to meet her nephew. In the meantime, she’ll continue to spend time outdoors with her family.
