Vincent C. Schoemehl Jr. was appointed by Missouri Governor Matt Blunt and joined the Bi-State Development Board of Commissioners in August 2007. Schoemehl has held the position of President and CEO of Grand Center, Inc., since April 2001. Schoemehl, former mayor of the City of St. Louis from April 1981 to April 1993, was at 34, the youngest person ever elected to the office. During his mayoral tenure, major projects were launched including the renovation of Union Station, the expansion of the convention center, the development of the Edward Jones domed stadium and the MetroLink light rail system. He also developed Operation Brightside, a City of St. Louis and neighborhood beautification program that continues to beautify city neighborhoods. In addition to his activities at Grand Center, Schoemehl serves on the board of directors of several community organizations.
